1. A long time ago, the Jewish people lived in Israel. They built a temple in the heart of the city.
2. They lit the menorah each day in the temple.
3. The Greek King Antiochus made an evil decree that no one was allowed to be Jewish anymore.
4. The Greek soldiers made a mess of the temple and broke the menorah.
5. Many Jewish people ran away and hid in the wilderness.
6. The Maccabees inspired others to come out of hiding and together they took back the temple.
7. They cleaned up the Temple.
8. They discovered there was not enough pure oil to light the menorah.
9. One little jug of oil, that would only last for one night, was found and poured into the menorah.
10. A miracle happened and the oil was enough to keep the menorah lit for 8 days.
